I just wanted to touch base with all of you before the holidays get into full swing to let you know what is going on as we prepare for the 2010 season. The first item is to invite you to the new website that Randy Snyder has built ( http://www.wildcatgirlslacrosse.com/joomla/). It looks spectacular and will be the source of information once things get rolling.

Secondly, we still have not received the signup sheets from Northstar for their Winter season but they should be online any day (www.northstarlacrosse.org). PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT send the forms back to Northstar, Drop them off at Coach Lutz’s classroom along with the check. Northstar only wants one envelope per team!! Also, some of you may be wondering why Northstar instead of Lucky Lax. Well, the answer is because the Davidson coaching staff will be on the sidelines for the games at Northstar as opposed to having Lucky Lax people coach the team for their session.

Another note, the final schedule should be out in the next day or so and I will get it posted on the website. We are playing 16 games this year, including a Saturday game on May 1st with DeSales that will include a cookout afterwards for the girls and families of both teams. We scheduled around the prom (May 8th) and the other weekend games will be the Hannigan (April 17th Varsity Only) and the JV Play Day (April 24th JV Only). February 22nd we officially start practice but we will have “conditioning” in the field house right after the break (I haven’t gotten days or times from Mr. Princehorn yet). Our first game is April 1st (The Thursday after Spring Break) and we have 2 scrimmages set up so far.

Spiritwear forms have been out for a while so if you are interested, please fill out the forms and drop them off at Coach Lutz’s room. The Spaghetti dinner is scheduled for Saturday January 30th and it is a mandatory event for all players. We will have 2 shifts scheduled for the players to serve our supporters. Stay tuned for more information about this event from the boosters.

Finally, I know we all talk about this being a new beginning for Davidson Girls Lacrosse, but there are a lot of changes coming this year. Practices are not optional; this is a varsity sport and both players, parents and coaches have to treat it accordingly. Players will be judged by how they approach the game both on and off the field because this is a team sport and it is important that we develop a team attitude. There is no room for people that place personal goals above those of the team. The past is just that, but we will use it as a learning tool to guide us towards the future and learn from it.

We will be holding our 2010 Girls Lacrosse organizational meeting on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00PM in the HS Commons This session is for both the players and their parents.

During this meeting, we will discuss the expectations for the coming year, review the Fall and Winter programs that are available, talk about possible trips during the season, and and answer any questions that you might have regarding the direction of the program.
